OK, this game deserves its' own thread.

My opinion is that like the previous match up between these two the game will come down to whomever wins the battles in the trenches. In the previous meeting, LS simply owned Parkland on both sides of the ball; their QB in many cases couldn't even hand off to the RB because he already had 3 LS linemen all over him. It was actually an incredible display since it went on the entire game.

I'm sure most of the chatter will be about Cross and Yeboah but, I think in the end, the boys up front will determine who moves on.
 
Why play the game! It seems everyone is planning on at LS, NP game. Don't count Parkland out, they have some talent and depth.

Who is?? Don't see any posts on here discounting Parkland's talent and capabilities this year.

Shoe, nobody said a negative word about Parkland. Put down the bong; that stuff is for kids.

Trust me, nobody from LS will be overlooking Parkland's talent or depth.

JB, what are your observations on Parkland's style of line play? The LaSalle d-line is a problem, but Parkland's line play has been pretty good this year.

As I remember, the 2012 had Unger at tackle, then a bunch of relatively little guys. That team also had virtually no balance, that was the first year Parkland transitioned from the Wing-T to the spread, but they ran the ball in something like an 80/20 split. LaSalle pinned their ears back and there was nothing Parkland could do.

I think this Parkland team has more size and talent up front than the 2012 group. There also is a threat of the pass that didn't really exist in their prior match up.

From what I've seen and read, the LaSalle line is massive and talented, and as a D11 supporter I'm worried about them controlling the clock. There are D3 college teams that would love to have LaSalle's size and physicality up front.
 
I think Parkland can pose a lot of problems for LaSalle. To me its crucial how Jones plays at safety because Parkland has 3 receivers over 6'3" that Cross tries to throw the ball up to. Wyoming Valley had smaller DB's which hurt them but I know Wyoming Valley isn't LaSalle.

Either way, it'll certainly be a much more competitive game then 3 years ago.
 
I expect this to be a difficult game for LaSalle given all I have heard about Parkland but I have not seen them play.
 
I've heard Noel Brouse for Parkland is one heck of a lineman. They were also the state power-lifting champs. I'd imagine some football lineman contributed to that cause. Should be a great game.
 
Brouse can play. Tall, long arms, and a good athlete. If you can be "lanky" at 6'6 270, he is, and with the right lifting/nutrition program at Syracuse TE could be a monster. He separated his shoulder against Easton in the D11 final last year, and they didn't have him for the SJP game. Obviously not as big a loss as John Reid was for the Hawks, but he's a difference maker, and losing him as a two way lineman really hurt.

As for that powerlifting team, from looking at the MCall article, left guard Patrick Ferry was the state champ at heavyweight, and fullback/DT Jahan Worth was the 220 champ and outstanding underclassmen ofbthe meet. Guard Andrew Parry was the runner up at 242 and linebacker Mario Dellis was third at 198.

Ferry in particular is a hoss.
 
You don't have to settle for swimming D1. We've got football, baseball, lacrosse, hockey, swimming, you name it. Take your pick!!

Your boy JB started the thread with an honest opinion on the O line this week. That's fair.. He then had to go to the next level and totally undermine the quality of an opponents performance 3 years ago, thus showing how great the LS line play was that day. That is passive-aggressive. I could come back and ask how the D line play was the next week when Coatesville put up 36 and had 3 TD's called back... It's the same bullshit. I have a ton of respect for LaSalle as an institution. And as a football team. Don't disrespect parkland. They are not the same team as 3 years ago, so bringing that into the conversation is bullshit also... BTW, Parkland offers 26 AP courses, a STEM program and multiple dual credit course with local colleges. It is a great Pub School. It is not LaSalle. It is not the Prep... But it is a damn good Pub School. One of the best in the Commonwealth... And they have a decent football team.
 
The powerlifting thing is clearly an activity for football guys who don't play spring sports so that they get structured workouts. I think it's coached by their o-line coach. But Parkland has a ton of multisport kids on this team, which is becoming kind of an anomaly on good high school football teams.

Cross, Yeboah, Brouse, and Zach Bross (WR/DB) all play basketball, and Cross has mid major offers as a point guard. Jahan Worth (DT), Frank Guida (LB), and Alex Van Woert (OL) all wrestle, Guida was a state qualifier as a sophomore and Worth went to regionals as a freshman. Eric DiGiralomo (RB/LB), Nolan Ridgway (WR/DB), and DJ Hohman (DE) all play lacrosse, and DiGiralomo signed an NLI with Lehigh.

That's guys who account for 16 of the 22 starting spots on both sides of the ball. There's definitely overall athleticism with the Parkland, which is one of their real strengths. I don't know lacrosse well, but there are definite cross over skills in hoops and wrestling (watch Yeboah go up for a jump ball or Worth handfight on the defensive line) and it's also nice to see counter arguments to specialization.

See ... There you go - you may in fact have those sports, but recently you are not the reigning 'champs' in most of them. If being a troll is a synonym for accountability, then I am guilty. I gotta also say I noticed how you guys know each other personally but prefer mostly screen names ... I guess you guys must be the champs at dungeons and dragons under such imagery. LS may want to start a Furry club.

Nobody disrespected Parkland; I even said obviously two different squads so stop putting words in others mouths.

It's ironic, I started this thread simply so people could discuss their opinion of the game. My opinion is it will be won or lost up front which was stated right up front.

All I get is crap and a bunch of negative posts like yours; seems unless it's personally negative, people have nothing to post. I'm nobody's "boy".

It's obvious now why so many good posters have left this site the past 5 years; not putting myself in that class but it's simply not worth the effort being here.

Can't be champs of everything all the time. It's a cumulative thing Roxy. I didn't bring the swimming up, D1 did. Check the thread! And no I do not know Yesman or JB personally. Never met them in my life! "Prefer mostly screen names..."? What Roxychknpoxy is your given name???

Quit being so passive aggressive will ya?! It gets old. You know you're better than everyone, just quit trying to prove it. And guess what? In three weeks or so, St. Joe ain't gonna be reigning champs either! Now what's your take on the game or do you just have nothing to do??

My take on the game is unlike most LS views. It's about winning with grace and losing with dignity, something to which some of the LS crowd seems to struggle. Seems the last two years hasn't humbled that crowd much. Let's face it, this year's PCL game was no blowout (unlike years past) and Lady Luck played her role. I only bring these points up since the SJP folks were posting generally objective comments since the game but some of the LS crowd felt emboldened to start taking shots and therefore some counter shots were taken. The Utopian self back patting by some of the LS crowd has generally gotten old on this board over the years.
As far as the game itself, I think it will be a good one. PL has a lot of players back this year. They are very athletic and physical and gave Prep an unbelievable game last year. I know LS will be prepared defensively but this game could come down to last possession as well. At this point, turnovers are pivotal - look at Wood last week. I can't say I give the edge to either but I will say that LS has their typical momentum at right time and the game is local unlike last two years where Prep had to travel up to the valley. All in all, I'm a PCL guy so my allegiance is there through the remaining playoffs.
 
Your thoughts on the game are on the mark, but you just couldn't resist the passive aggressive pre-amble BS. Maybe someday! God I miss Caveman!!

My comments were an opinion on both the game and general sentiment of some of the LS core on here to which you had alluded to each. In symtomatic LS form, you didn't fail to maintain that profile.

Et tu SJ - I figured I'd engage this on a Kling level ... The comments may seem old and tired because the opposing rhetoric may be old and tired ... I've remained consistent throughout these threads, simply pointing out inconsistencies. I was the first to congratulate LS on these threads and I'll route for them representing the PCL. I also mentioned the new PCL arrangements in two divisions starting next year. Some of these guys are manipulative ass cans and we all know who they are. Maybe this whole thing is a guilty pleasure or maybe it's a forum to preserve objectivity through subjective exchange. Regardless, I have no regrets. It's unfortunate it upsets you. I still say "Go Prep".

Yes, I will move on - But the funny thing is I thought "the best football player in the state" got hurt at the end of the regular season! Since there wasn't much to write about in the city championship game? Did he play? You really don't have to defend your prep brother, he'll just whine like "sister mary tinkle pants" and cry for Ed to lock the thread! He learned that at the prep during all those long hours of homework that other schools don't do! (smile)

I asked nobody to close the thread! All you do is insult people. You insulted the new coach of LaSalle who for the record is a good coach unbeknownst to you. You have everyone pegged. Your AD just tried to sell all the other AD's the disparity in number of kids is unsafe. Who's the nerd? Like iadelco said go get your skirt and pompoms

According to him, I must have 2 high school diplomas since I somehow graduated from the Prep, some BS (I stopped reading the incoherent blah blah) about my kids, which I dont have any and more nonsense and garbage that no one can even shake a stick. Just have to ignore the guy and let him live his life through his kids for whatever reason he does. Thank God his kid is a pretty good player who obviously needs to teach "pop" not to let people get in his head. Its embarrassing. Its apparent that we cant make your own viewpoint without the name calling and the judgments which are about as accurate as his knowledge of the goings on in the Catholic League since he clearly doesn't know anyone or speak to any coaches as some clearly do. Id rather discuss local football and viewpoints with "those that are in the know" as opposed to people that are going to tell me about what kind of person I am and what I have done with my life off of their nearsighted interpretations of my posts.
