What the hell has happened to LaSalle FB and where the hell are all the LaSalle posters? How the times have changed! LaSalle FB faces a little bit of adversity and the LaSallians all run and hide. What happened to all the boastful and brash predictions? Where are all the mightier than thou LaSallian posters? Has football died in the halls of that fine institution in Wyndmoor, PA? I see all the money being spent on athletic fields and facilities on campus. Is this the year the Roman Catholic's and Father Judge's of the world finally get their "Program" win over LaSalle? The real head scratcher is a social media post from LSCHS today cancelling Saturday's planned Homecoming festivities including a team, family and alumni barbeque preceding the Haverford/LaSalle Football game on Saturday evening at Springfield. According to my weather app, Saturday is supposed to be partly sunny, 77 degrees with a 10% chance of precipitation. The hurricane I believe is hundreds of miles to the south. Or is there a proverbial hurricane churning up the waters in Wyndmoor and ripping through the school's administration and athletic department. C'mon LaSallians, what's the skinny???

Some of the LaSalle posters are still around: Paul, Yesman, and I think LilRomeo is a LaSalle Guy. Until about two years ago there was a really obnoxious guy with site name of something like FB2525, but he disappeared when he could no longer crow about LaSalle's superiority over SJP. And there was JBin who some Prep guys couldn't stand but I didn't mind--except for when he kept going on and on about the arrangement related to the Prep's practice field. In any case, there are many reasons people who were once regulars on here no longer post. Blitz and Slam (the latter a Prep guy) were once regulars, but they are long gone.

As for LaSalle, my sense from a distance is that if there is one event that really signaled that they'd have a hard time keeping up with SJP was the Swift choice of SJP. I know LaSalle won one PCL championship after that (2015), but the gap has been widening. And I think Infante and the Prep admin have been on the same page while it seems that wasn't the case with Gordon and the LaSalle admin. All these things run in cycles. I'd link LaSalle's rise in '08 and '09 to the problems of Brooks's last years at the Prep--not that that was the only factor but the Brooks Era at the Prep peaked in '03. Then came the slow unravelling, set in motion, I'd argue, by the Comcast documentary that aired in '04. LaSalle benefited, though obviously other factors (especially the hiring of Drew Gordon) contributed in big ways.

I vaguely remember that Comcast documentary in ‘04. Anyone have a link to that? I’d love to rewatch it.

Thanks for the correction. I was sure about Paul and Yesman but not so sure about you. Hope all is OK.

CC, La Sallians are still out there but when there's nothing to talk about........! The barbeque was cancelled in the beginning of the week when the forecasters were saying the weekend was going to be a washout. Now they say it should be pretty nice. When you're planning a big party, you need assurances and the Herb Clarks of the word were not giving them that. (I loved Herb Clark. Always watched him to see where his toupee was. Sometimes front, sometimes sideways. That thing had a mind of its own.)

Posters come and go. I miss Caveman. He was a great SJP poster. Don't miss 2Loud2Clear though. He was a nagger!!

Now when it comes to the arms race in the PCL, I think that train has left the station. St. Joe's is head and shoulders above anyone in SEPA and don't even try to argue about any Pubs. La Salle is 0-3 but look at the teams they lost to. They lost to three very good teams. And as it's been mentioned on this board time and time again, it is cyclical. We'll beat North Penn again and we'll beat Malvern again. And maybe, just maybe, St. Joe Prep

I was at a wedding over the weekend and not one but two Board of Governors from the Prep were there. They explained Infante's contract and situation to me. I used to think "Why not take the next step and join the college ranks?" After my conversation with these two guys I understood why he aint leaving. Plus the guy does not have to recruit anymore.

They redid one field at La Salle and you make it sound as though the blew the place up and started from scratch. It was the freshman field that I played on back in the early 70s. All the other fields have been there for a while.

Finally, Roman and Judge will finally get their chance to get that win. But even Appalachian State has their moments. It will definitely make the playoffs more interesting instead of being a rubber stamp!

Paul, I'm hearing infante is pulling in six figures, true? If so, how?
Move - You are familiar with NP... Beck makes that as a security guard. What do you mean how? Infante making 6 figures is low he prob more like a click more.

Mid six figures. Coach and teacher compensation (sort of like the movie Casino-give him a number of titles and pay him). That in addition to camps and outside contracts gets you to that number. Plus he has a lot of free time because he doesn't need to go out and recruit. Pretty good gig!!

Ironic how this thread is titled one way and became deflected. So true that things are cyclical. LS has a patch to get through and they will. On any given year, they can wreak havoc. The season is young. Frankly, the league is better when they are at the top of the game. As far as SJP coach, the opportunities he created outside of the school were a result of determination and hard work. He's very charismatic, well educated and continually reinventing the schemes and updating himself. He created the magnet that draws the players. The school is fortunate to have taken a chance on him. Many expected or wanted him to fail, so he should bear the fruits of the sacrifices he made. Hopefully, the PCL can preserve itself and continue. Winning the PCL will always be tops in my book in any sport.

He is the best at what he does, period. I often wondered why Gil got the ax. Granted, there were stories out there about how over the top he got and the tangents that he went on but bottom line, he won. Well, Gabe is head and shoulders above Gil. And I was one of the guys hoping he would fail miserably. The first time I noticed something really unique about him was when he jumped in and took the lead with the "Heads Up" program. He used his position and got good results. Ya gotta take your hat off to that. And you're right, he does deserve the fruits of his labor. He built it and the sky's the limit.

People need to Relax, big deal La Salle is 0-3. Have any of you seen the games or just the scores? All 3 games were decided in the 4th QR but TO's were there downfall. They are still a very young team with a lot of talent. They lost probably one best Athletes & WR in PCL in Brett Malle for the season and also lost Marvin Harrison, to me that's 2 very big loses and by the way they dont have Brett Gordon at OC... Quiles the RB has been hurt and just came back and missed the 1st 2 games, the QB a JR breaks his wrist game 2 and out for the season most likely. Just so happens losing 2 stud WR's and then realizing that they might have in my opinion a top 3 WR in the PCL in Kahlil Diarrah who is 6'6.... Hands like pillows and HUGE but he is not used enough. The have 1 Jr LB, 2 freshman LB's 1 in which might be there best player on the field at times in Abdul Carter, this kid is a complete player who gave Malvern problems on D. Yes maybe they wont beat Prep who knows, but Ryan/Roman/Judge/Wood will be all good games which is great for the PCL. Anything can happen it's why they play the game. Yes it sucks there 0-3 but that could have easily change without a few muffled punts or Fumbles, but they didn't quit they still practice hard, the coaches still have high expectations and the PCL didn't even start yet. For you to say football has died in Wyndmoor is pathetic, but then again you are not a member on PAPREP you just joined 2 days ago. Typical Troll. Give the dam kids a break. It's HS football. We all still have to go to work during the week. And get this La Salle still makes the playoffs... Oh and by the way IMHOTEP, North Penn & Malvern Prep did not impress me, there good teams but not much better then La Salle.

I see the same sort of stuff with Coach Kasper at Pine-Richland. Young charismatic guy who is doing things differently. Hasn't accomplished as much here, but going down the same path as Coach Infante on and off the field. But I don't think he makes in the mid 6 figures!!! And that's why I think there will be a time when he jumps to the college ranks.

The reality is that in the PCL one team will still be consistently as good as the teams "back in the day" were. And that is SJP. I think LS people were used to seeing their team in the same breath and that is not going to happen for a variety of reasons. They will still have good teams and every so often will beat the Prep just like they did a few years ago. TD this is not about the kids, its about the LS posters who were often seen as insufferable. By the way I am calling LS on the carpet here, until LS drops it's love of recruiting kids who currently attend other high schools it's my opinion they will reap what they sow. LS always was strong even back in the glory days of using multi sport athletes and growing their roster organically. At some point transfers became popular and it has not worked out and it took away from their program. And don't make me drop names.

soup, very true, but db not making that much , plus, really, should hs coaches make that much dough, no wonder there's recruiting, back room deals and so on. You make that much off of speaking engagements, camps and the like , more power to you, but to coach hs football, come on. Infantes still a douche for scoring late on np in state semis, could of took and knee and not subjected swift to hit or fumble, guess thats why he gets paid that much.

Cover - I disagree on a couple things. High school football coaches make next to nothing for long long hours so now the guys have an opportunity to make some money and that only comes through hard work, winning games with talent. When GI took over SJP Beck ran it up on him and what comes around goes around even if it was risky

GREAT POST very true.
Paul, lasalle added the turf football/multisport field below Ward a few years and just turf'd Flannery and may add lights?
Facilities are outstanding for sure.

BTW TD, the one time lasalle beat Prep out of the last 10 BG was not the OC.

I'm not sure Infante made a deliberate decision to run it up on NP. Last week against St.Peter's they had a very similar situation--up one with less than two minutes to play and suddenly deep in St. Peter's territory. Burrell, I think, gets the hand off and runs into the end zone when the prudent thing to do was for him or the QB to take a knee. And do you remember Swift taking a long run into the endzone near the end of the '14 championship game? If he falls down on the 5 PR has no chance to get the ball back and SJP wins by the point. My point is that in a big game where you find yourself unexpectedly near the other team's goal line players and coaches may get caught up in the moment and punch it in--certainly giving the impression to some that they're running up the score. I can think of lots of games, including lots of close games, where Infante, in fact, took the knee rather than try to run up the score.

C'mon TD, weren't you once new to post on PA Preps? You act as if Imhotep, NP and MP games were in doubt late into 4th quarter. For years these LaSallian posters were non-stop over the top! Today, you don't hear from them. Now why is that? It couldn't be that they have nothing to boast or brag about, could it? Why not continue to post and support your team even in this down year? I guarantee you if they were 3-0 and have beaten the previously mentioned teams, you wouldn't find any space to post anything else except for LaSalle this and LaSalle that! On another note leave it to the Prepsters to take over a LaSalle FB thread and turn it into a Gabe Infante thread!

Charles, you're original post was debunked on every point from the barbecue to the fields being blown up. Now you want to know why La Salle fans are not going crazy for their team anymore. I didn't read many NP posters with their review of the win. Imhotep didn't give updates and you didn't hear a peep from Malvern about their victory. I think all postings are down. I haven't noticed many game reviews about Wood, North Penn, Neshaminy, Pennridge or St. Joe for that matter. That being said, there are only so many teams that have won a state title from SEPA and La Salle is one of them!! How do ya like them apples??

I never said the fields were blown up and started from scratch! Does it cost money to renovate and turf fields? Wasn't that what I said that a lot of money was being spent over there? The barbeque was cancelled on Wednesday when there was no chance of inclement weather forecasted. As matter of fact there was never a forecast for a "washout" this weekend even going back to last weekend. I'm just saying something is happening in Wyndmoor when it comes to the comes to the football program. I was hoping to hear from one the LaSallian's for input but instead got a bunch of bunk about Brooks, Beck and Gabe. BTW Paul, I love Apples! Now go get your shine box!!!!!!!!!!!

Arguing over a barbecue? You weren't hoping to get some input from La Salle people. You were hoping to get a rise out of them! The tone of your post said that! 3 posts and you're feeling pretty good about yourself. Enjoy it Charles, you earned it!!

Paul,
Why are you letting this clown troll you??..... it's obvious the intent, just avoid.

btw.... I lived in Cheltenham (prior life!)...... you can sympathize with the challenges.

Congrats to the LaSallians on their 1st Win over a decent Hverford School team. The Ground and Pound a was alive and well in Springfield. I guess 86ing the barbeque was a good idea. The kids weren’t weighed down by chicken, dogs and burgers.

Btw... Cheltenham is a fine place to live.
