Just struck me while looking at news of all the college signings today, that there was nothing about Joe Dumond, this year's PCL 4A MVP and a four-year starter at SJP. I know his size might be an issue for many D1 schools, but surely he'd have a lot to offer many programs.

I believe preferred walk-on.
Does "preferred walk on" mean pretty much the same thing at different colleges? How many would, say, Penn State have in a given year and how many tend to wind up getting much playing time?

Tulla, it's several weeks late, but Penn State would typically take up to 10 walk-ons per year. Under O'Brien, they were in the 20 range because of the smaller number of scholarships that were available. Dumond will have a shot because they are not deep at LB. But they will obviously recruit LB's heavily from next year's crop of high school seniors.

Don't assume he is penciled in at LB.

Just heard that the PSU ILB just transferred to Delaware. There is a vacancy at that position.

I see that he's listed at 6-1, 235. Could he bulk up to 275 lbs. in 2-3 years? Otherwise DL is going to be difficult. I hope it works out for him. Seems to be a tough kid and watching his junior highlights, he is a very good football player.
