It may be of interest to District-12 guys/Se PA that Governor Mifflin will play without the services of starting safety Eden Johnson. He's ineligible for the postseason after transferred in from West Catholic. Pretty good safety with 3 picks, 2nd in Berks. They’ll miss him playing Mechburg who has a talented Qb in Micah Brubaker (6-1, 185, sr), one of the top dual threat Qbs in southern PA completing 1017 (67/88, 75%, 13/3 ratio), rushing for 528 yards. Mifflin is more but this is a chink in the armor as Micah has skills. I’ll post stream sites shortly.

So if he transferred to another catholic school it would have been perfectly fine? Makes sense.

No , he would still have to sit out, unless he went to a non-PIAA school. You can petition for a waiver and under certain circumstances they are granted, Not sure if this kid did or did not and what are the circumstances behind the transfer.

I don't know either SPEED, it's beyond my pay grade and interest. But I'll update if anything learned. Just know it's a loss for GM that Mech will certainly try to exploit.

All I know or can find is what you said SPEED

**** PIAA rules state that student-athletes who transfer following their sophomore year are not eligible to compete in the postseason unless granted a waiver for special circumstances. Johnson did not meet the criteria for a waiver, according to Gov. Mifflin athletic director Pat Tulley, who is a member of the District 3 Committee and the PIAA Board of Directors.

The PIAA grants waivers for special cases, among them, when a change of residence is necessitated by a change of employment or military reassignment by a parent; a change in income requires withdrawal from a private school, or the transfer is court-ordered.

Also, remember, they tightened transfer rules before 18-19 season.

He’s a key player….kick returns, receiver and a heck of a safety. Got an offer from Wm-Mary as a soph! Junior now.
