Going for 2?

You've just come back from being down 21 (42-21) to being down 1 with an extra point pending for the tie. Over 2 minutes left - why go for 2? SJP was shellshocked, kick it and play some D. Swift scoring on the long run instead of just getting the 1st almost saved PR.

Any chance you think the PR players were told to concede the TD if SJP got the first down? Not that they were having much luck tacking Swift anyway.

Should Swift have gone to the ground once he got the first down? I don't think it was in his head to do anything other than do what he usually does--go for the goal line.

Agreed, really hard to not score in that situation. One of the assistant coaches should have tackled him. Lol

One of those things where if they got it, we'd be saying how great of a call it was. Just wish they did it out of 3 wide gun set or something like that, play action didn't help with their pass protection

If they get it, SJP still has over 2 minutes to score (TD or FG). Coach wanted to relive his North Hills days?

Tulla, I agree, Swift should have done a Brian Westbrook there, but what sophomore thinks of that! The kid is going to make Prep tough to beat over the next two years.

I don't blame Swift at all, and I don't think anyone on the Prep sideline was thinking along those lines either. It certainly made for a great and tense ending.

The Prep defense was obviously not at its best tonight. Johnson didn't seem to be 100%, and of course they really could have used Reid. Not to take anything away from PR, though. Their offense had a lot of skill and imagination.

Saw that same decsion I think it was in 2000 when Manheim Central had come back on Strath Haven. Haven led at half time 13-0 but MC dominated the second half.

I think everyone in attendance believed MC would have won that game in overtime but the missed two point conversion saved Haven that night.

Agree on the late Prep TD. Saw that back fire on Penncrest several years ago in a playoff game. The scored a TD on an interception if they had just dropped on the field game over but ended up losing

It's a strategic decision that will be debated from P-R's perspective for quite a while I'm guessing.

That said, it was a ballsy call by P-R's coach. Go big or go home. Admirable in my view in today's "play for the tie" mentality.

If you're a stellar Prep scholar like people on this board are peddling, you are thinking to pull a Westbrook (Villanova grad) and run out the clock.

Ballsy move by PR. Playing for the tie is playing not to lose.

I was at the game! ELECTRIC! I didn't realize that if he would have sat down after the first down, the game was over because PR had no timeouts. That said, DiNucci was on fire and I thought they would go for 2 and so would I have!

I didn't have an issue w/ them for 2 there. I didn't understand the play call. I would've went to the shotgun and run that zone/read run/pass option that was successful most of the game.
