With just about a minute to go North has moved the ball (following the kick) to South's 36 on a couple of nice runs by McIlwain (he knows the field well).
From there one effort went nowhere before North went deep and to the corner. The ball missed but a flag came out with a questionable interference call putting them at the 21. McIlwain then lugged the ball, and a bunch of South players, to the ten yard line for an Indian first and goal with just about 40 seconds on the clock.
The first shot from there was to the corner of the end zone with that aerial missing the mark. South then called a TO with 31 seconds showing and after coming back to live action good coverage by the Hawks forced Mr. M. to head out of bounds setting up a third and ten. Then, on what looked like a slant pass to a man at the goal line, the throw was low bringing up a fourth and goal with 20 ticks to go. South called a TO at that point to do some thinking.
After the brain session, North then decided a field goal made sense but the 28 yard attempt missed as it was short; however, the North sideline had called a TO just in time giving the kicker another try. another try. And that one had the distance but it veered and hit the right upright and bounced away.
South then took over and got in one play before the clock hit zero with the score still 7-6 and in favor of North.
