Just play the damn game and stop worrying about where the KIDS/PLAYERS are from. DiNucci needs to worry about the game and stop worrying about the addresses of the players. It seems they are already laying the ground work for a loss. I hope SJP pounds them. I am so tired of this pathetic crying by men. Just play football. It's embarrassing.

It is crazy that the three-state thing is even in PR's pre-game dialogue. It's not as if the kids come from that far. If Prep were located in the center of the state, this wouldn't even come up.

And if "communities" are at such a disadvantage against the privates, why is PR representing western PA? Shouldn't Pittsburgh Central Catholic be in the game every year?

from a Jersey guy. GTFO

Funny thing is fans on the east say the west never complains.

1. They do complain have have complained for years about the private schools in the West. We just don't here it bc this site is a SEPA website.

2. When Privates win 3 of 4 this weekend and Wood blows CV out by 50 tonight maybe the over paid PIAA will get together and create a Private school division. Let Wood play Prep for the Private school championship.

Everyone will be happy. PCL will have their yearly state champion and the rest of the state will have their 3.

Ok - I'm down with that and no school taxes either - sound good? I like the idea of having a choice. Btw, CV is battling Wood - hopefully you were able to pay your 'dish' bill maybe you can watch it.

It's funny to hear the guys with all the recruits say "just play the game".

Does Wood move up to 4A next year or continue to get off on being the playground bully?

I've been saying it for 4-5 years now.

1. All Private schools compete at 4A.

or

2. Create a "private" division and put them all in there.

Hey Reclusive Pennsbury guy. You crack me up to even join in this when the guy who coined the term Tri-State All Star team was your patsy writer from of all papers the Trentonian which is The Central NJ newspaper. Meaning the Trenton/Morrisville Bridge means more then a route over the Delaware River. I would love to see how many Morrisville addresses are on that roster in Pennsbury. How about the Pennsbury Apartments, Rocksprings or Castle Club addresses. I drive by them every morning and those bus stops are loaded. I didn't know those apartment complexes had that many students living there. Keep burying your head in the sand and pretending they are all PA kids on your roster. Are you kidding me.......reluctant to comment.

There you go again with the provincial stuff. I know the Prep situation well, the benefits and the challenges. 30 years a PA guy, 20 New Jersey.

My point wasn't about complaints; it was about the issue of why private schools weren't representing the west in AAAA and AAA if they had such an advantage.

And it looks like you were way off with the 50-point prediction in the Wood-CV game.

Yes, I think the pubes are throwing a trophy tantrum again! You give us some tax $ and we'll give you "your" trophy back....

If it all takes to be great then why aren't all private school dominating? The fact that grown men complain this much about HS sports is pathetic.

Stop worrying about the whiners and bringing attention to their whines.

They will always been there until eventually we are saddled with a watered down playoff system which will only make Pennsylvania football worse than it is.

Huck,

I thought you were smarter than that. There are all kinds of reasons why everyone doesn't do it. One is location, two, you need a commitment from the higher-ups in the school, three, you need a coach who wants to go down that path. Most coaches want to win with the kids that they have, most find it more gratifying that way.

I've got no issue with SJP, they have to recruit to get students (the 3-state thing is a dumb comment). LaSalle, the same way.

I've got an issue with Wood though. With their location, there is basically no private school in the entire county. It's not like Delco where you've got Bonner, O'Hara, Malvern Prep, The Haverford School, Episcopal, SJ Prep all going after a select group of top players. At Wood, they are the only dog in the show. They actively recruit players from Quakertown into and including Philadelphia, 8th graders plus transfers. Take a drive sometime from Quakertown to NE Phila, then from Willow Grove to New Hope. You've been around long enough to know that that is a decided advantage, evidenced by the 3 state titles.

Does anyone consider Devlin a good coach? After all, he's one 3 state titles. I don't, he a great recruiter but I'll never put him in with the great coaches that have won in the past or the number of coaches who put in countless hours and guide their teams to go 8 - 2 and win their league title.

Carey's the real coach, when he leaves Devlin will be .500, unless he's learned something, which I doubt watching the last play of the half.

Devlin is a kinder gentler Gil Brooks (who he learned much from) that knows how to delegate and will be a great coach for a long time!

Say what you want about the Prep, but it is very simple....If you have the $ to pay tuition, you WILL pay even if you are Johnny F'ing Unitas! If you need help, you will get it...

Huck

I think the issue for many people is that the private schools are dominating. I generally stay out of this issue since it really does not matter to me who wins if it's not Ridley. But if you go back to the year the PCL joined the PIAA , and maybe take away the first year or two due to growing pains, then you will see that private schools play for and win far more titles percentage wise then what the make up is of all PIAA schools combined. I think there is less than 20% of private schools that are members of the Piaa. So all things being equal , privates should win around 20% of all championships. They are winning them at a much higher rate than that and this year it might be 75%. The situation is similar if not worse in basketball, especially if you factor in the Charter Schools, that ehile classified as public, have much more private school characteristics Now, is this advantage duevto recruiting, better coaching, better scheduling , etc- who knows? But statistically speaking, a kid has a much Bette chance of being a state champ going to a private school than a public school.
