DWest got its ass kicked in week 1 and bounced back against Wayne Valley last week. Will the real West please stand up? Neshaminy won its first 2 against good competition but did not blow anyone out. Who wins?

Neshaminy of course!
I am not impressed by Wayne Valley, didn't West beat them last year too?
I don't know what happened to Kyle Geiser, last year's QB for West, but they got a terrific passing performance from the 6'4 Sophomore QB last week. West seems to have lost some good weapons from last year, particularly Zapf who caused Neshaminy a little angst last year, and Riddick who was very good. Byrnes looks to be a good offensive threat though.
I think Neshaminy has more weapons and their D is playing well. Also the Skins are not having their lineman go both ways as the seem to be using 9 starters on the lines. They should be strong late in games because of this.
I think the Skins win at home.

Wayne Valley won a close one at Kottmeyer last year.

Did Geiser get hurt or did Howard rise up the depth chart? I'm not sure if West has enough difference makers to contain the Skins at Heartbreak Ridge.

It will be fun watching the 2 Soph QBs grow over the next 3 seasons.

I was impressed with Neshaminy's defense last week. Also, a little bewildered why their all-state TE wasn't more of a target on offense. I think their complimentary running backs to Dogba last year are showing they're not quite "feature backs" with Dogba gone.

Neshaminy wins tonight. Glad they're not playing East!

The Skins haven't seemed to find a replacement for Dogba, but the passing game is looking impressive. Underclassmen at key positions too.

I think Manzyk carried the ball a couple of times last week. Garlick may gets some carries too if needed.
Manzyk was targeted several times and just over thrown. A little more accuracy and he has 3 to 4 more grabs for big yards. As it is he isn't far off last year's numbers at this point.he is averaging over 22 yards per catch.
I think the Skins will live abd die with the pass this year, and a very good defense.
If Stills is able to play (injured late last week) the pass defense will be tough. I don't think the Whippets can hang with the Neshaminy passing attack. I don't think they have the horses to run that option offense they like to run and are relying on the pass like the Skins.

Whippets in a leave-the-Ds-at-home shootout. What happened to the Skins D?

Crazy outcomes:
Whippets get throttled by PV in W1.
Skins beat Pennridge in W2.
Whippets beat Skins and Pennridge cruises past PV in W3.

I am stunned. I thought no way an West beat the Skins. Boy was I wrong. The Skins D really struggled against the pass.
Some questionable play calling too.

Iron -

The 'Skins DBs got run a bit ragged tonight - really out of place at times. West has some players, though, including their good looking QB so anyway you cut it our guys did have their hands full in this one.

I think Neshaminy's offense is falling into place. For instance, it was very obvious Wilmot was working the ground game possibilities (Joel Stills impressed with some moves and then on that great 80 yard straight shot up the middle he displayed that speed you love to see).

An interesting observation -- all night long Neshaminy's backs gave up sure yards when they could have cut it up the field by, instead, trying to stretch the plays outside (West's kids were too quick for that). And they've shown that tendency a bit more than you'd like to see so I'd stress North-South basics in practice and tone the East-West stuff down (their passing game has enough wide open play to stretch the field).

Also seemed that there were too many deep pass calls - which missed. At this stage of the game - high school - 35-40 yard throws are getting near "limits" and have low completion ratios (but when they work they're great - like Garlick's TD).

I'd work more slant and middle/underneath stuff that is easier and still gets you a fresh set of downs. Mix them in with those "come back" routes on the outside that are getting over used a tad (have I been missing screens??).

And I'm not ragging on anybody or anything as I love the kids and then Coach Wilmot's offensive strategies. If he develops an RB out of the candidates - Stills, Hebron, et al., - they'll have a very potent offense (and they're improving each week as it is -- 14, 23, 31). As it is they'll be throwing all over the place this year with Manzyk, Garlick, Joyce, Liebach, etc. - man, McAndrews has plenty of targets (most underclassmen).

To be honest I think this game/loss will be a launching pad (I'm wondering if they didn't get ahead of themselves). And it's obvious West is a good team and tonight they were a step ahead of the Blue and Red ( our guys didn't help the cause if they were believing their own press).

So I bet this "ding" will see these guys buckle down (nothing like a punch in the mouth - as we've all suffered - to get your attention).

Stat wise Neshaminy had 494 total offensive yards including 207 on the ground - and they lost (ugh).

Too many penalties. And yikes - the kicking game was pretty rocky tonight.

How much did they give up though? Neshaminy had too many bone headed plays. Roughing the kicker? How many times did West receivers not have a defender within 20 yards?

Good observations though moleskinner. I think the Truman game may be a little too interesting.

Reluctant, Mole, Iron and rest of Neshaminy fan base - Was surprised by the Whippets win but the stat that stands out is 37 points. Not penalties, refs or o production. If I'm a Nesh fan the d needs to tighten. DWest d has never been a strong point and if they plan to go far 34 points needs to be fixed. Good luck to both.

Dumb plays (penalties) did give up extra points and key first downs. That's not taking away from DWest. Their QB missed on a few passes early on, but got on target as the night progressed. Nesh D-backs left a few kids wide open. I'm talking no one within 20 yards.

Neshaminy offense looked OK. Their young QB makes a lot of bad decisions, but he's young. He needs to learn he doesn't have to try and complete every pass. Neshaminy offense as a whole also needs to learn to get out of bounds. I've seen that in the last two games.

I'm still now sure why then didn't run #2 more and still don't look in the direction of #5 more often. He seems to catch every jump ball. Moleskinner says they did target him, maybe I didn't see it.

At least Pennsbury lost, so the night wasn't a complete disaster!
