district one football

Now that beck stayed and didn't take oc job at PSU, I think np next year. Offensive balance , finally a passing game, one they haven't had in years will be the difference.

Your forgetting one important reason for NPs offensive success this year.. 3 strong Sr leader running backs.. That allowed the WR to get open a lot..losing the backfield will hurt them next year.. Having that kind of leadership is tough to replace...

Playing a cover 3 for the majority of the game so that a passing team can pick them a part probably doesnt help either. Neshaminy should be the team to beat from Suburban One Conferences next year correct?

NP missing a good stable of backs next year and some seniors on defense but return all world QB and WR(johns), with Henley, Hubler , Thomas(TE), Vasger(TE). Lot of young kids got solid playing time and the O-line ended up being a strength and is Beck's specialty. Fill in a few holes and this team can make a 4A title run.

I garee that with Beck at the helm NP will again put out a competitive product. They did make the district finals and lost by a team with 1/2 their enrollment and beat a AA ream WC. in a close game and WC lost by 20? to SC. What helps NP out is how weak district one has been the last decade in all classes and will be again next year. NP has better then a 50/50 chance to make the district finals next year but then D11 & D12 loom and thats it for District one.

If Beck stops being stubborn and hires passing game coordinator, that lives in modern world then may be possible. Whip routes, triangle concepts, putting defenders in a bind. Well coached teams with athletes on to old school CB west waggle. Time to take the next step in the evolutionary process.

It will be some time before D1 makes an impact outside 6A. Just to many better programs in the East. In the top division the pound it run it offense does not play well outside D1. Teams that keep playing that style will not get past D12 or D11. To see what UD did to the rest D1 just because they could throw a couple passes is something. Then they gain -2 rushing on 25 carries, I think those with the numbers, on Saturday really shows how far D1 has to go when their district champ gets shut down like that.. I think Stover converted 5 or 6 3 rd and 10+yards which is what gave them a shot. Parkland's QB could not run and that is half their offense and they still won going away.

The D1 "power" schools need to clean house with the coaches and get people who can coach a "modern" offense. PB was just comical this year. At least NP went out and recruited a QB but then left the passing playbook in the "library" before the D1 final.

One more point, a quick look at teams in 6A. It looks like 67% of them are in what is now the east. D7/D10/D6 has 17 teams for a semi spot, D3 has 15 team for the other in the west. D1 will have 32 and D12/D11 will have 24. Please correct my count if I am off.

Is that going to change to create some better balance?

The two best teams Parkland played this year were LaSalle and Upper Dublin. District 1 will return and win in Hershey when schoools decide to bring in good coaches. The teams that run a good offense (Dtown's, Coatsville) don't play defense very well. Last's years Pennsbury team was a team that had a great shot to win it all, A D1 running back, talent all over the place, big as the Prep, and a potential D1 quaterback that was never used properly. They weren't prepared to play that game. Just look at what Parkland's coaching staff brings to the team.

According to Mr. Udinski his son wasn't recruited, let's just say they were looking for a school and beck was looking for a qb as his last several weren't good enough, "someone find me a Qb in this school". As a matter of fact there was a second Qb transfer into NP at the same time from Norristown . With that being said NP has the horses to get there again, win D1, and from there who knows.

Let's not go crazy. #12 will be lucky to be a D2 QB. He has the element of surprise on his side, passing in the Pennsbury offense.

The best D1 teams will always contend. The eb and flow will get them back to Hershey occasionally.
