College Football Semifinals....any thoughts?

Now that Rousey got her overrated butt kicked again (Washington-Alabama preview?) it's all about football. This has been one of the more competitive bowl season's featuring tight games and comebacks as the norm with teams playing like it matters regardless what Finebaum says. So, any thoughts?

Washington vs Alabama; Rooting for the underdog here but it looks shaky for the Huskies. Good seeing the corner turned striving for the quality of teams Coach Don James fielded.

Ohio State vs Clemson; As a Penn Stater I'm still getting over the imbecilic selection committee's decision and hope Clemson destroys the girls from Columbus the way Nunes destroyed RR.

Next week is the FCS final (Jan 7th)....James Madison vs Youngstown State.
Picking JMad being in the CAA with Villanova and Delaware....and YS (sorry Jaws!) being from that state to our left.

I think Washington keeps it close early, Alabama takes over late and wins by 17. I like Clemson over OSU as OSU offense has been Shakey and I don't think they can keep pace with Clemson. Clemson by 10. PSU guy myself, second half exploits continue and win by fg late. Going to go with JMU, keep the neighbors happy. Happy new year to everyone. Be merry and safe.

Stalk - I'm sure we'll catch up some day, Don't know Cover too much but maybe him too. You guys have to realize not all of us Pennsylvanian's are PSU fans for various reasons! Great turn around year by the Nittany's though. OSU is just a machine and Urban wins .... and wins the big ones too.

I am very thankful to have a case of Victory Hop Ranch at my disposal for these semi finals. What a NYE waste of time! OSU did not beat PSU, barely beat 3-9 MSU by 1 point and should have lost to Michigan. Now they are getting embarrassed by Clemson. Someone needs to explain to me what "the eye test is". Anyone but Herbstreit. Why? Because OSU failed it miserably.

Chesmont; “Not all Pennsylvanians are PSU fans”? Get outta here! When you grow up in Lion Country reminded “You are in Lion Country” by way of billboards it’s kind of hard not to be, raised in the Blue Ridge. Two nephews graduated from Pitt so, ok, there’s 3….counting you that aren’t PSU fans.

Cover-1; South of Harrisburg is (was) huge ACC turf with Terps just down the road so it’s a basketball area. Baltimore and DC down the road bed made it a hotbed for most sports. Also grew up a Big 5 fan per MAC but that’s another story. So, GO NOVA!

G-beans; Yeah, I think anyone who messes with the Big 5 should be tarred and feathered (or worse) but I’ve loved Big 5 Basketball since I was a kid, weird as that is coming from Gettysburg and still root for all the teams.

Relayer: About the eye test, guess they all need to get an eye exam. And an eye test means ‘squat” without depth of knowledge about these schools….(college or high school) as it is often a mere snap shot they are seeing. OSU Was a joke but us die hards knew that. GO PSU!

I guess in that part of PA it's a little more common to like PSU. I'vw also found it difficult to talk sensible about PSU rivals w many PSU alumni and fans too! A positive note is the Great turnaround by the Nitamy Lions. On the other side you gotta commend Darnold as he should be heisman material going into next season after last nights fantastic game and win.

PSU blew it. Who cares if you make them burn last timeout..Every first down stops clock and is a timeout. Third and four play was playing to not lose. Run / pass option , not there, tuck and run stay inbounds. Final series, nothing on first and second down, take a knee and play for overtime. Maddening!

Stalk, Rousey is overrated. She is a pioneer in female ufc. Lots of time the first big face isn't as good as the next...but man you have to admit she put female ufc on the map. Not my cup of tea, but without her it is a big shrug when that comes on in the big screen of the bar.

Chesmont, you might be surprised how some of us will chat (give credit) about PSU rivals. I love PSU but manage to lift myself up when they lose, and move on. Stationed near Miami when Canes tried their comeback, living in Florida for years with half the clan split, like most Floridians between GA and Gators with none liking that Girls School as they call it up in the panhandle. It was a girls school initially.
Most are from cattle country in central Florida (wearing Stetsons, riding horses) but still an even split between the two. Mother from GA, other cousins Dad's side from Pittsburgh area. Gets complicated except for the simple love of the college game. Been glued to the set the last 2 weeks.

Stalk - I know there is a lot of decent college football fans out there. (Probably like yourself and Relayer to name two) I had the unfortunate situation of being married into a PSU family who could never see anything wrong but sure loved to dish it out. Seeing less and less of the fans though which is good for the school. I'm harsh many times on the board but hell.. I love watching the game!

That run was one for the ages! I was bouncing off the walls watching it live. Watching Adoree Jackson not being able to catch up makes me think Barkley is some type of human-robot hybrid.

OL and DL should be better next year, Secondary should be better (has to be), but I'm not sold on the QB position. Clifford and Fields coming in over the next two years could change that.

Odd question IMO.Bates was a Wood guy from the start.Yes,he lived in Warrington which is where CB South is located ,but if you are going to ask that then perhaps the question should be asked if a good player from a Public school is Catholic and where should he have gone to what Catholic HS.Just saying.

The PSU QB is a gamer and played a hell of a game but I think they can upgrade that position too. Secondary can always be upgraded but Darnold is going to picking apart most defenses the next several years. He's very good.

Open boundary schools can get kids from anywhere, so it is hardly an equivalent. As for being an odd question, it is always nice to know what public school these kids would have gone to.
