Like everyone to know that Chris is settling in and playing very well as a member of the 2018 class. The IMG coaching staff recently informed him that he will be the starting Right Tackle as they continue to prep and head into their spring practice sessions. The IMG O-Line is for real as is the immense talent throughout the team. Special note of interest for the followers of " PaPreps " is the welcome news that both the starting right and left tackles are Pennsylvania Kids. Left Tackle Robert Hainsey is a former WPIAL (Gateway) player and a member of the 2017 class. Hainsey is being recruited on a national level.

No, it's not welcomed news. Since these kids are now residents of Florida and go to a pseudo high school in Florida, I don't care. This board is for PA football.

Sorry for your troubles. Gave the update due to the many (pa. residents) who often inquire about his progress. Can never blame anyone wanting to compete against the best and that is exactly what both Pa. kids have done. Lets hope we see them both in Happy Valley or the Steel City.

With emphasis on the word "pseudo"..

Don't have a problem with a student-athlete/family making an informed choice and deciding what's best for their son/daughter, certainly their prerogative. Do have a problem calling that corporate manufactured semi-pro training facility a "high school".

fbleich......My best to your boy, hopefully he gets out of it what was anticipated. Just be careful what "they" tell you down there, his competition is being recruited and told similar.

Billy Sherwood..

Fritz, your updates most certainly are welcome. Always great to hear about the PA kids no matter what a select few Grumpy Grumpersons say.

pt,
Don't believe anyone posted "grumpy" regarding the young man paisano. As I stated earlier to his dad, we wish the young man well and hope that the decisions made by himself and family are realized.
My issue, and others, is referring to this entity as a "high school". When Nick Bollettieri and Mark McComack ventured into this function several decades ago, it was set up as a professional training ground for elite tennis players whose only real aspiration was pre-ATP preparation and hopefully making the tour as their end-point. It was very successful. Athletes "stays" at this camp were variable, it has since developed into a multi-sport training ground.
To refer to this "school" as anything more than a corporate manufactured semi-pro training facility with a minority emphasis on academic achievement would lead any objective viewer to not be in satisfactory control of their faculties or lucidity.

I again wish Chris and his family well. This country remains that of freedom AND choice, that aspect I remain respectful of.

Well said yesman. I might have sounded grumpy, but places like IMG rub me the wrong way. If these kids want to go there fine, it's their choice. However, paying $72,900 for one year of tuition is a little over the top.

$72,900 per year ??? Come on really... you must know that's not very realistic. Very few of these kids families have the means to pay any substantial tuition. Many of these kids are 5* recruits upon their arrival to IMG yet they still train to improve their skills. Check out their national sponsors and the professional athletes who pay to utilize their facilities. Money is not an issue at IMG. IMG seeks out players they believe have the potential to compete at the highest level. I could understand football fans being upset , if IMG was beating up on a bunch of AAAA programs , however they compete against similar programs from Calf. to Texas. There is a lot of false info being floated out there but truth be told the staff runs a very strict program not only on the field but off the field and in the class room. I have never heard of any of their players being involved in any type criminal activity. I'm not trying to argue with anyone its just that it seems as though everyone wants to pile on this academy based on a lot of half accurate stories.

Fair enough. We might not agree, but I hope it works out for your son. The tuition number was found in this article.

Tuition varies by sport at IMG. Golf and Tennis actually have much higher tuition according to IMG's website. Also, one can simply attend HS at IMG (not playing a sport) which costs $19,600/year. That's leads me to believe coaches at IMG make much higher salaries than the average HS Football coach. This model is like the soccer academies in Europe run by the professional teams. The kids are professionally taught the game AND along with that taking high school classes in case a pro soccer career isn't in the cards.
