any news on looking for there new coach, heard a former archbishop ryan coach was told to apply (Glen Galione) what about former west coach (Chris Felton) isnt he still in building
I wonder if Carey would consider going back? Apparently someone posted here that he did at least meet with Ohara when the HC job was open. I would imagine he may still have that "itch" to head coach again
Although things are much different with athletics now in Central Bucks with no real commitment to sports. Not sure he would like that. Would be great for West but doubtful.
Ok why McShane or Sanderson? Both live in NJ and commuting to Doylestown is far for both of them. Also the rumor is that Snyder is stepping down next year to follow his kid's college career. So one of them will be the next HC at Pennsbury. Keeping things the same with the other remaining in their coordinator position. Felton is in the building, but I doubt he is a serious contender unless no one else impresses in the interviews. Galeone is a serious candidate as is Beach from Upper Moreland. The teaching position or a position in the building though is a must.
As an alumni of the program and high school I do NOT want someone that has not coached in years or someone that has been on and off of coaching in their career. Both of those men listed, Galeone and Beach, may have been solid coaches but I would rather a person that knows the program more. I would rather someone come in with an energy to lift the program back to respectability.
I know that the administration does not care what I think or others think, but this is my personal opinion on the matter since I attended and played during great years.
Look for a veteran, successful H.S. coach like Hollenbach (he won't leave PR) Or someone from the college ranks like CBS hired. The Administration & school board want someone off high caliber to vindicate themselves and put this problem behind them. When you make national news, appear in the Wall Street Journal & Aljazeera USA. you don't want to travel the same road again.
The glory days train left the station yrs. ago & it's not coming back. Gone is the large bowl of creatin in the dungeon-like weight room, gone are the raiding of CYO teams, gone are the seperations, or living at an Aunt's, etc. best hope is to stay around .500
Interesting that you bring him up. Thought he was a great line coach during the glory days. Problem is, and it kills me to say this, CB West will never be anything beyond mediocre. The opening of CB South guaranteed that. I think it would take an extraordinary talented coach to revive this program. And no extraordinarily talented coach would be remotely interested. Sad.
Chuvalo I played on two of those teams, don't remember that bowl in the dungeon like weight room.
I'm not saying CB West will ever be back, but it can win in their current conference. Build something with someone that can be there for a long time that can infuse energy in the system. Bring a West guy that wants the program back to respectability. It's a shame that the administration could care less about any of this.
could you prove any of what you say? I don't know of any talent that came from a cyo team. I do know that CBS, CBE, Bensalem, Abington, GW are all feeder programs for Wood.
I'm
Pretty sure Armstrong played for Bucks Mont Saints. Feeder CYO to Wood. Wood was bad back then. Hmm Shoe, I wonder where he would go today for football. Wood or West? I wonder why he went to West back then?
Armstrong played for a CYO team because he was too big to play for a pop warner team. He could never make weight..and more importantly his dad is the head coach of the Saints. I played for OLMC and went to catholic school for 9 years before attending west and playing football. Every situation is different. No one recruited me and 3 of my teammates from our CYO team. It was simply the lure of the west program that brought us there. If you asked me honestly if my parents and I would choose to go to west today given the circumstances, I'd prob say I would not go to West. Instead Id go to either LaSalle or wood. That's the reality of the situation now, but don't act like West is down because the catholic schools are raiding CYO programs like west was. Kids wanted to go to west because of the tradition. For 2 decades war memorial was packed most Friday nights in the fall and as kids we went to the games and idolized the program hoping one day to be a part of it. Since then the luster has worn off. The losing changed everything.
MM3, well said and certainly on point. During the Pettine/Carey regime, there was an allure emanating from that program that didn't exist anywhere else.
Shoe, during the CBW heyday, it was more of an all-encompassing culture. The middle school coaches were on the same page as Pettine/Carey with what and how they coached. When the outstanding athletes arrived at CBW, the system was second nature. They were then coached by the best. CBW was even ahead of the curve with conditioning. It was a perfect storm for many years, culminating with their run in the decade of the '90's.
LS9er - Agree on CB South and also Wood. Over the last 10 or so years the coaching has been questionable at best. I left some games just baffled. I think there is enough talent there to win in the new (old/smaller) SOL alignment. They need the right guy and not sure who that is?
99, I'm nominating you to throw your hat in the ring. Obviously, I know nothing about you, your schedule, family responsibilities, etc, but if you played when you did, you know what it takes. And Senior would always just be a phone call away.
I am not sure if this was sarcasm and a shot at me, but like I said before. The administration does NOT want a former player that knows the program, they want a head coach with experience in the field of structure and discipline so they do not have to ever deal with what happened again. Not that a former player would allow it to happen, but the administration would never give a former player the reigns.
Central Bucks doesn't want to deal with any nonsense, we should all know this. According to their website, they reposted the position which tells me the people who applied were not good enough for them. I am not sure who applied, maybe someone else can inform us on that if they have an inside track.
99, that was sincere. Why in the world would I take a shot at you? You are probably friends with my daughter, who graduated in 2000. I love the program. We're on the same side.
After reading this website after years and seeing all of the shots people take at each other and sarcasm used, I am not used to it since I finally joined the board.
I was up in arms when they hired Felton and thereafter. You cannot hired someone that doesn't know football or didn't even play when in high school.
Get back to the roots.
Do you know anyone that interviewed or applied? Did they start interviewing?
I occasionally get sarcastic with some of the nitwits on here. You're not one of them. I refrain from idle wise-ass remarks. Totally agree about Felton. Never saw a guy in that position who simply didn't get it. I have no idea who has or will be interviewed.
