CB West hiring someone with ninth grade and 2A football coaching experience. There's no question this was a political choice, and I know for a FACT they did not hire the MOST qualified coach. Oh how Central Bucks has changed.

MOST qualified? I wasn't aware that anyone with true success even applied, why would they want to. The only success they had under Hensel is when a group home kid showed up. Political? help me with that one. Your right about Central Bucks in one way. When Pettine took over he was 28, and had only been an assistant for 2 years but took over a successful program with 5 division I players, Cathers will be lucky to have 5 Divison III players. Yes CB has changed.

Needs to keep Rocconi, veteran successful coah who can teach him some things. Forget the rest of the staff, all dead wood.

I asked for an alumnus and I got one... I did get a former CB West player that is now a coach, but what I was looking for was not answered.

I wanted a coach with a solid coaching background, not what the above post said about coaching freshman football and New Hope. I cannot truly believe that this was the best available candidate, but rather an easy hire that someone distance wise can make it to West since there will not be any teaching position available.

Seriously, a freshman at HH coach and later a New Hope coach? I am dumbfounded to say the least.

I want the candidates that were interview to be released and their resumes. If only we had access to that.

The question is why would any successful, experienced coach want to work in this political correct enviroment. Wish the new coach good luck!

Disagree, this is a great hire. Cbw grad, played the game, went to Ursinus so you know he's smart. One of the top coaches in college, Dan Mullen went there, same with Paul Guenther, D-coordinator for Bengals. Young guy, probably has good ideas, and energy to resuscitate the program.
I've got no problem with district not handing out another teaching job, no need to hand out jobs when it isn't needed.

needs to be in the school, they found jibs for the South & East coaches when hired.

Shoe,

Just so I understand.

You want to terminate (fire) a teacher who has proven themselves in the classroom in order to get a football coach in the building?

Geez, that makes a lot of sense.

@ 00shoe....Are you familiar with the old staff? Why are they deadwood?

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

A great hire ?? You must be kidding. This kid has NO experience what so ever. I just can't see this working out although I wish him luck

ever see West Play? poor tackling, blocking, not teaching fundementals and out of control at times. Wood, all about fundementals.

There are plenty of ways to get a coach in the building without firing an existing teacher. Where there's a will, theres a way.

who said terminate? 300 million plus budget, (3 million athletic budget) 1500 employes, can't find a spot? you must be kidding.

I still cannot believe the hire. As a former State Champion of West, I have had it with the district, administration, and community.

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

Pettine before becoming head coach at CB at 28, was an assistant at a small catholic school and then an assistant at CB for 2 years. Of course Pettine took over aprogram that had gone 7 & 3 the prevouis year and 2 league titles in the prevouis 7 years. Cathers will take over a 2 & 8 program that hasn't won anything in a decade. Give him a chance, things can only get better.

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

What is his resume that proves this? New Hope? Hatboro freshman squad? Did he work elsewhere?

The more you can show that he coached the big boys will help my brain ease over this, that's all. We all have to give him a shot, yes, but nothing shows that he has been with a winning big program. Am I correct or incorrect?

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

Shoe, you are usually lucid. Are you really comparing Cathers to a young Pettine Sr?

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

From what I've heard, you are completely correct.

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

no, I am saying that you can't compare what was, to what is today. Pettine was a unknown when hired and so is Cathers. Expectations are also different today. .500 is acceptable today, it wasn't when Pettine took the job.

Re: JHopps are u kidding !!!

Decker took over a ridley program witrh only 2 years expericence as a coordinator at Glen Mills and had them playing for a district championship in his first year. Stranger things have happened.
