http://usatodayhss.com/rankings/expert/boys/football/2015/14 archbishop wood is ranked # 25 in the new usatoday. Congrats to them and its nice to get some national recognition but I don't know if I agree with that. I definitely don't believe they are the best team in the state let alone the best AAA team in the state. It's hard to gauge them being they play a powder puff schedule but we'll get to see how good they are when they get deeper into the playoffs. They could prove me wrong.

YAWN....

LaSalle is a powder puff? If Wood gets by Imhotep Charter in the D12 final the weekend of 11/27 that will be impressive. After that their likely opponents are undefeated Academy Park, and Saucon Valley teams.

Playoffs won't be powder puff but their regular season schedule is. I'm not saying wood isn't a good team but they need to beef up their schedule. It would only benefit them. Just don't get why the schedule such weak opponents.

Are you telling me wood had a tough regular season schedule?

There is some truth to saying many teams will not play them. That is a fact.

They had laSalthis year and great deMatha team last year ring their regular season. One issue ,no one in Pa. wants to play them.
Dematha was on last year's schedule. I'm talking this year. I'll give u LA Salle but that's it. I think woods a great program and would only benefit by beefing up there schedule. As far as no one in PA wouldnt play them that's simple not true. Who did wood try to schedule and they told them no?

Then they should do what Prep and Tep do and schedule teams from other states. Come on 8 games at home this year, take that show on the road if it helps you in November and December.

North Penn lost interest in continuing playing Wood. Their schedule apparently doesn't hamper them too much in the post season....... I am sure there are plenty of local teams that wish their post season was hampered like Wood's.

I hope they do,and would like Tep to schedule one of the North Jersey Catholic powers

How exactly would it benefit them?
They are 10-0 and have won 3 state championships in the past 4 years?
How would "Beefing" up their schedule benefit them?
You make NO sense!

Your right, they should just keep playing these easy games and blowing teams out by 70. Why would the couches want to challenge their players.

Always GREAT seeing PA get props but if Wood is there, where is St. Joe's, Tep, Haverford School, Malvern Prep, just keeping it local?

Will tell you Mid Penn teams will play D1 teams. Central Dauphin, Harrisburg, especially CD have a history of going anywhere in-state, Williamsport, Pennridge....Harrisburg playing Pennsbury et al have ventured out of the district before. Everyone isn't afraid of the PCL.

House what's up? Who do you feel in PA is better than Wood? Ok, Tep but after that? 3 (McDevitt is down) and 7 have a pile of rebuilding teams even Cathedral in 10, all except Conneaut who is a vet bunch. Bethlehem Catholic was, well, Beca (exposed last year and earlier this year) before Saucon beat them....and if we're looking for a team that hasn't played anyone, look no farther than Saucon!

I think it's between Wood and Tep.

I think imhotep has the talent to beat them. I'm not saying wood isn't the best AAA team but its hard to say based on their schedule. I think all five of the top AAA teams in the state go 10-0 playing woods schedule.

Talking about Wood beefing up their schedule. It is tough for them to put together a non-league schedule. Most bucks county publics don't want to play them because all it does is showcase how good Wood is to the people in their district who are potential recruits for Wood. Unless there is a pre-established neighborhood rivalry, public schools don't want to play privates that can take players from their area. Its also could be a financial decision not to play some of the out of state teams, I don't know what Wood's booster situation is and I don't know how much it costs teams to travel out of state. Just a thought.

Come on everyone. Their schedule was a joke this year. I use to follow Wood and went to two games this year but its pathetic with the teams they play. They have a top flight team. Why not schedule good non league games ? My Pennridge Rams just played Ridley and even though they are not what they have been are still a good program

So if u have a kid that extremely smart and just brilliant you would keep him in special ed classes. Why not? He's getting straight A's.

Is this your answer to the question that you went out of the way reply to? Haters gonna hate!

It's not so much about "potential recruits"; it's more about Wood beating the local team, likely by a lot, and the 7th and 8th grade kids in that district being more aware of Wood and considering going there. One guy on here once said Prep's entire team was recruited and that was really far from the truth, for those who were close to the team. I talked to a guy last week whose kid is going to a private school and playing varsity LB as a freshman. I asked if any of the catholic schools were recruiting him. He said no, the only school that was recruiting him was the local public school, whose coach called the dad every couple weeks.

I have nothing against private schools. Im a graduate of Erie Cathedral prep but to think catholic schools don't recruit you're delusional. There is a reason ccatholic schools win statechampionships every year

I'll say it again, but Wood-SJP not playing the last two years is criminal. Absolutely makes zero sense when you consider the N-L flexibility each team has, the fact they reside in the same league, and the interest that game could of drawn.

I agree. I don't know why that series ended, but based upon information and belief, the desire to stop did not initiate from 17th & Girard.

I didn't say they don't recruit, but look at your statement; you lump all catholic schools into one category. My point was that a lot of kids make up their own mind to go to a particular high school, based on success of the football program. I saw this at The Prep with many kids in the class of 2010. Some were recruited, most were not.

I agree. With woods football program I just think if they play a national power house football schedule it'll give them some national recognition and bring more of the 5,4, and 3 star athletes in. This weak schedule isn't helping the program at all. Like I said I'm an Erie Cathedral prep grad and they traveled to Orlando to play wakula who is in maxpreps top 100. Wood should take a page out of there book and props to sjp for their scheduling.

Good points. I wouldn't think money would be an issue and even if they didn't fly to Florida, they could bus to Baltimore or north Jersey or even stay local and play The Prep. But, if it didn't happen this year, it isn't going to happen next year, because it might be somewhat of a rebuilding year.

There is no reason them and prep should play.
