Darn, the AP beat my All State team in coming out. I'll have that post up later this afternoon. This is the all state team of record, it's been published consistent since 1939. Certainly no major quibbles from looking at it, it's a deserving bunch.
Congrats to Miles Sanders, Mike Menet, Cary Angeline, Micah Parsons, Ike Schannauer, Damar Hamlin, and Khaleke Hudson all becoming repeat selections, with Menet being the ninth three time selection by a 4A player in the state playoff era. Charles Rush of ECP is the only other interior linemen to achieve that feat.
Three really exciting sophomores on the team in Phil Jurkovec, Jahan Dotson, and Micah Parsons. Parsons could become the first ever four time AP all state player.
I agree on the coach of the year, I think it's usually a lazy award. It's a trap to fall into, but Totten had far and away the best talent in the classification, not saying he didn't do a good job meeting expectations, but frankly, they had the pieces to be an all time team and were merely very, very good. I would have nominated Mike Whitehead from Cumberland Valley and John Steinmetz at LaSalle for way exceeding expectations in addition to Stover, who took his program to heights never reached.
