Sitting here watching the MLB network replay game 6 of the 1980 World Series when the Phils won their first championship.

On the ticker below I noticed two PA kids are projected to go in the top 14 picks. First is OF Austin Hendrick from West Allegheny and the second is RHP Nick Bitsko from Central Bucks East. Anyone have some insight on these two prospects? Good to see PA represented.

Hendrick has the best power of any high school hitter in the draft. Bitsko is interesting, he was a junior be reclassified (took enough credits to graduate early) to make himself draft eligible this year. Sucks for him because scouts didn’t really bear down on him last summer, thinking he was two years away, then he didn’t get pitch at all this spring. I’ve read he’s the most talented high school arm in the draft, but kind of an unknown.

On a smaller scale, my Alma mater was supposed to have its first draftee in thirty years, with Luke Storm projected to go on day 3. But with MLB cutting the draft to five rounds, the 6’5 switch hitting shortstop will end up at Duke instead and try again in 3 years.
