A big problem!!

Paul,

You bring up a good question.. Regardless of what we call it open boarders, recruiting etc. we have argued / discussed the topic on these pages.. without any direction from the football governing bodies in various states.. could the wave of the future be teams just decide not to play schools which are allowed to live by or fail to follow the same (for lack of a different word) rules as other schools have to?

The real losers in this mess are the kids.. they lose a game or in this case several games

Look at the new District 1 scheduling. They have already addressed this. Playing teams out of Suburban 1 is over. And I know this is a football forum, but this has already been addressed in suburban one with most schools and most sports. I know that certain school boards will not allow their teams to play outside suburban one unless it is playoffs. I know certain programs of certain sports got invited to prestigous out of state tourneys and were told that is the last time we will allow it. This is not a problem for most of the teams here because they are being told you can't do it anyway. The bigger problem is going to be who will the D12 teams play. I don't envy them in trying to schedule going forward. I would think more crossovers with inter ac and more out of state games.

Not playing the Murphy's, IMG's etc of the world would force the issue and maybe Murf needs to upgrade their schedule some! A romp or two each year, ok....but most of us would rather mix it up with guys and talent our size.

If there this good they should play Gorman img bosco or even Imhotep

I thought I read Murphy is only a 2A school who as they say out there "recruits from their region" Not sure how large the region is, but i would think next year they might op to compete at a higher level. From what I read, schools on their schedule are being forced to play them regardless of objections. You can go to their website or local articles.

Interesting how much is being made of this since they haven't had the sustained success like John/Don Bosco, Centennial, DeMatha, Aquinas-FL, Katy types. Won a lot of games with no state titles.

About where Murphy draws from ("recruits from their region"), if it's a talent rich area like Harrisburg, a team like McDevitt even as a AA is hugely advantaged especially since their is no other private school competing for the talent they get. Had some awesome teams and success despite size playing "up" in the Mid Penn Commonwealth with Central Dauphin, CD East, Cumberland Valley, State College. As they say, location, location, location.

To a lesser degree Berks Catholic is working towards that kind of dominance since the merger of Reading Holy Name and Reading Central Catholic

Great find....... They don't have a problem finding games, they want to pick their opponents. My take on this would be fill the schedule with schools that have the same guidelines, problem solved. If not, this will continue to happen. You have these teams pop up across the U.S. screaming they can't find opponents. Yea. yea Heard it all before. What the title should read is "can't find restricted enrollment schools that want to play an unrestricted teams".
