Win at all costs

I'm a little disturbed by some recent stories that have surfaced regarding the great sport of high school football in our area. I think it all has to do with this "win at all costs" mentality. I'm not pretending to know the ins and outs of every story as I don't but a few stories have me questioning the ethics of coaches today.

1.Sitting here (real time) witnessing a local high school coach (catholic league) promising the world to the parents of a 5th or 6th grade CYO star at his all star game.
2. Pennridge PSU commit (seems like previous incidents were covered up)
3. Tep star & Wawa (4 months since the crime occurred, school/team/community didn't know about it?)
4. Conwell Egan transfers (players didn't transfer to a school not in the playoffs?)
5. Neumann going from 0 to 56 players overnight (i know del val closed down- all paying tuition?).
6. Ridley LB (speed has discussed this at length)
7. whatever else i've missed, feel free to add.

These problems used to happen in professional football, they then started occurring in college football, now high school. High school used to be free of these problems. It was pure and perfect, but once again I fear that adults have ruined it. It's a shame, for all the bad press there are dozens and dozens of great stories that high school football produces. I don't wish to focus just on the bad but it seems like each year more and more of these stories surface. Where is high school football gonna be in 10/15/20 years?

Some Hoops Action

Here’s a few competitive games that look good.

2:00 CBS3 Alabama 8-5, 17-9 at Kentucky 6-7, 17-9
Bama’s won their last two while Kentucky swoons, losing their last 4. Definitely a Rising Tide here!....trying to catch SEC leader and rival Auburn 11-2, 23-3.

4:30 Fox29 Villanova 10-3, 23-3 at Xavier 12-2, 24-3
Wildcats lost 2 of last 3 while X reeled off 9 straight. Extra incentive for them losing in first game 89-65. Bad spot for Villanova with 3s clanking off the rim lately. Xavier is in 1st.

6:15 ESPN West Va 8-5, 19-7 at Kansas 9-4, 20-6
The Mountaineers are 4-6 after a 15-1 start with Jayhawks anything but hot, going 2-2 their last 4. Texas Tech (?) lead the Big 12 at 10-3, 22-4.
