“The football season individually was a big let-down. I broke my leg in the second game of the season after starting 1-0 and having an all-around good first game.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“As of right now as a team, we are working out three days a week as a team, and 2 days a week I am seeing my personal trainer. My trainer, Justin Golden, is getting me right.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“Right now as a player, I am trying my best to improve upon my speed. My strength and size are definitely my strong suits. Either way, I’m never satisfied.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I expect a good season from us next year. We are seeing a lot of personnel change on the coaching staff, but I am very excited with the returning talent we have. We return about 15-20 players with varsity experience.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“The toughest team we play next year is Bayard Rustin. They are one of the most respected teams in the Chesmont American, and they return a lot of really good talent upfront.”

“I want to play football in college. My dream has always to play somewhere division 1. However, I’d be happy to play anywhere, at any level.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I will 100% be going back to Delaware for a camp over the summer. Hopefully I will be going on visits soon.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now, I am wrestling for my school and in the spring, I intend on playing lacrosse. During both sports, we lift and run hard, so I am staying in great shape.”

“As a player, I mainly just want to improve my ability to read the field way better and have better situational awareness.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I think we are a team that can be very successful this upcoming year. We are all trying to perfect our crafts during the off-season and working out to get bigger and faster.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“Next season, I think our biggest threat is Rustin. I only say so because when we played them, they were a very tough team. They had some great kids all around.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Yes, I would love to play a sport in college. It is a blessing to make it to the next level and I dream of making it. Sports wise, I want to go for football.”

“Honestly, no colleges have been recruiting me for all I know. The recruiting process has been very slow, but I’m just waiting for a school who see faith in me.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“No, I have not made any college trips yet.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I plan on taking many this upcoming year.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?

Q&A with Unionville linebacker Nate Holt

How did the high school football season go overall?
“I believe that our season went fairly well. Even though we hit lows, we also had a lot of sophomores step up that we didn't expect would. We lost in the second round of playoffs, but I believe that our team could've made it farther.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Simply, I plan to get bigger, stronger, and faster. I've been in the weight room and also have been working on my speed and agility too. Increasing my physicality is also a big part in training for me.”

Q&A with Coatesville offensive guard Jake Walton

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Overall, my football season certainly had its ups and downs, but overall it went very well. We overcame a lot of adversity and injuries throughout the season and made it all the way to the District 1 Championship. I’m really proud of my offensive line group as well. With all of us being first year starters, many people believed that we would be the teams’ weakest link and that we wouldn’t be able to run the ball. We got better and better each week and became a pivotal factor in our playoff run, including a performance which over 300 yards rushing versus a stingy Central Bucks West defense. Everyone doubted us this year and we proved all of those people wrong by making it back to the District 1 championship for the third year in a row.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“My plan for this offseason is to get stronger every day in the weight room and do everything I can to get better for my senior season.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“The main things I’m trying to improve on this offseason is my technique and quickness.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“Next year, I believe Coatesville will still be the team to beat in the Ches-Mont League. We lost multiple key starters from last year’s team, including all-state players Ricky Ortega and Dapree Bryant, but we have younger players ready to prove themselves. With three returning starters and two promising rising sophomores, our offensive line looks to dominate the run game this year. Our team is going to look a lot different than the Coatesville teams of recent years. We’re going to have to work a lot harder to put points on the board, but we know we’re still capable of dominating teams. We plan to prove those who doubt us wrong and make another deep playoff run, as we did last season.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“Our toughest game next season will most likely be against Downingtown East. They’re an extremely physical team that can run the ball very well. It’s always a heated rivalry game whenever we play Downingtown East, and we definitely have a chip on our shoulder after losing a very close game to them last year. We certainly are looking forward to our rematch with Downingtown West after losing to them in the District 1 championship.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Playing football in college has been a dream for me since I started playing the game. I would love the opportunity to play at the next level, no matter what division.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“So far, I’ve talked to coaches from the University of Pennsylvania and Yale.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“No, I have not made any college trips yet.”

Do you have plans for more trips soon?
“I’m planning on taking visits in the spring and attending camps at different schools over the summer.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Growing up, I watched a lot of college football, but Penn State has always been my favorite team.”

Q&A with Lower Merion running back Jay Zheng

How did the high school football season go overall?
“Our last season was rough. We had many disadvantages like with our roster depth and our lack of upperclassmen. Despite that, we didn’t give up and still fought.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“For the off-season, I’m running winter and spring track. I’ll also be playing 7v7 and doing workouts with some of my coaches from school and different organizations.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“I have many things that I need to work on to improve my game, but I mainly want to focus on increasing my speed and agility.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“I feel that our team will be solid next year because our team was mostly made up of underclassmen and most of them are returning this year with an extra year of varsity experience.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“I think that our toughest opponent next year would probably be Garnet Valley.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“I haven’t been recruited by any colleges so far.”

Q&A with Wyomissing Area defensive tackle Steven Olexy

How did the high school football season go overall?
“It was actually a surprise this year. We knew we had the talent, but I never thought we were going to go this far with winning the District 3 championship against Middletown and falling short to Tamaqua in the state quarterfinal. I didn’t think we were going to go far at first when we lost Zach Zechman in the first game against Twin Valley.”

What are your plans now with sports and workouts?
“Right now, I’m swimming to stay in shape. During the springtime, I’ll be playing for Berks County Rugby Club for my 2nd season. I’ll also be hitting the weight room and getting back when I’m done with swimming.”

What are you trying to improve on the most as a player?
“I need to improve on little things like watching the ball, not jumping offsides, working on different defensive line hand moves, working on my speed and quickness, and improving on my strength this offseason.”

How do you feel your team will do next football season?
“That’s a long time from now, but I think we will prove people wrong again this season. Hopefully we will win another district championship and possibly another shot on making it to states again.”

Who do you feel will be the toughest competition on your schedule next season?
“Pottsville because they always play our team tough every year. We go up in the coal region and play them up there and it’s really hard to win at their stadium because they always make it tough on our team. Southern Columbia because they have a tradition on winning district championships and winning state championships, and they’ve been doing that every year. They haven’t lost a game since the 2016 state championship against Steel Valley and they are well coached like our team is. They also run the same offense we run, and they have some players we never faced so it might be tough of us. Conrad Weiser because we used to have a long-time rivalry with them a long time ago before we were rivals with Berks Catholic. This team always plays teams tough on their home field and will make it tough to win at.”

Do you want to play sports in college? If so, which one?
“Football because I’m good at it. I’ve learned a lot of the game because I can get my anger out. I have aggression when I play, and I always want to become the best player I can be. I have always liked it ever since I’ve played.”

What colleges have been recruiting you?
“Most schools just have shown interest. I have received replies and DMs from different coaches from Lycoming College, Lebanon Valley College, Misericórdia, Alvernia, Keystone College, Juniata College, Albright, Thaddeus, Grove City Ursinus College, and Kings College.”

Have you made any college trips yet?
“I haven’t really gotten to because I’ve been busy with sports and school right now. Hopefully I have time to take more visits to these schools.”

Did you have a favorite college growing up?
“Penn State.”
