Being a Western pa guy Rodney Gallagher comes to mind and Phil jurkovick a couple years ago. One of the greatest of all time from my childhood was Steve taneyhill. He was a qb for Altoona in 1990 and went on to have his jersey retired in south Carolina. As good of a football player as he was he might have been a better point guard for their basketball. He could dribble, pass, and didn't miss from beyond the arch. Also Malik hooker out of new castle. He's a starting safety with the cowboys but lead new castle to an undefeated basketball season and a 4A title in 2014. He could jump out of the building.

Guman and Moore are absolutely two I missed!

Guman I believe was all state in hoops, a parade all American in football, and got drafted by the Texas Rangers. Obviously went to Penn State and played in the NFL.

It’s kind of funny that Moore was the big get for Woody Hayes, but it was his teammate John Smurda who ended up the excellent player at Ohio State. Obviously Moore was an all state hoops player and a parade All American quarterback.

Tyrelle Pryor might have been the best. He was the #1 football recruit in the country and was in rivals top 100 in basketball. He could have been a pro in either sport which you can't say about a lot of the others that have been named.

He could have been a pro in either sport which you can't say about a lot of the others that have named. Journey brown from Meadville is another one. He was penn states starting running back and was on his way to being a first round draft pick before they discovered a heart condition that made him have to give up athletics all together. He rushed for 720 yards in a single game and he broke the 100 meter Pennsylvania state track record that stood for over 20 years. The kid could fly.

John Cappelletti from Monsignor Bonner in the PCL (future Heisman winner at PSU and future NFL running back) was also a very good hs basketball player. In fact, decades ago nearly every hs basketball team seemed to have at least one starter who was also a starter on the football team.

And an odd note: Rich Gannon when he was at SJP was a pretty good member of a very good rowing team.
